White Center
White Center’s unofficial slogan is “White Center: Not so Centered, Not so White” and it is an apt slogan for a community fiercely proud of its cultural diversity and independent character. White Center is one of the last urban unincorporated neighborhoods in the Seattle area – but annexation to either Seattle or Burien looms for this neighborhood as well.
White Center students attend school in the Highline School District – a district that has been bolstered by recently passed bond measures that allowed for the construction and renovation of school buildings as well as new technology in all classrooms.
The White Center Community Development Association has been at the forefront of helping bolster a revitalization of the business district, creating opportunities for involvement and leadership for residents and development affordable housing projects in White Center. The WCCDA is currently working on a developing a cultural center in the community.
